This past Sunday, my teaching assignment was 1 Timothy 2:9-15 – “Principles for Godly Womanhood”. We have been studying 1 Timothy as a church, and as we go verse by verse we need to cover every subject that those verses cover. This meant that my subject was “modesty for Christian women”, and “restrictions for women speaking and teaching within the church” – talk about hot topics!
As these issues are not often discussed, I thought I would post the message. With these kinds of subjects, it is very important that we separate the timeless principles from the cultural and contextual applications. What is modesty? What are the Biblical requirements for modesty for Christian woman today? What are these verses NOT saying? Is it true that woman are to be “silent” in church? Can a woman take a leadership position within the church? These are some of the questions that are discussed during this teaching.
