Originally from the UK, Kris became a Christian whilst playing keyboards in a Los Angeles funk/rock band in 1994. After returning to the UK, he met his wife Becky and they followed God’s call to NZ in January 1997. Kris assisted with the first Calvary Chapel church plant in Auckland as youth pastor/worship leader, then in 2003 he and Becky moved to Christchurch to plant Calvary Chapel Christchurch, now known as Redemption Church.
In May 2009 Kris established The Psalm 12:1 Project, a ministry aimed at encouraging the restoration of Biblical Manhood. Kris still serves as one of the pastor-elders at Redemption Church, and in addition to his responsibilities and privileges as a husband and home-educating father, divides his time with pastoral ministry/preaching/teaching/ discipleship, running the Psalm 12:1 Project ministry and ENGAGE Family Discipleship & Home Education Conferences/Events, teaching at Bibles Schools and churches, music recording & composition (www.krisbaines.com), and also works as a casual Paramedic with St John.
Kris loves to teach God’s Word and has a passion for making it applicable and relevant to the challenges of everyday life, particularly in regard to the role of Christian men in today’s world. Kris and Becky live in Leeston, Christchurch and home educate their 8 children. Kris and Becky believe their highest calling is their duty and responsibility to be godly parents, passing on the truth of God’s Word and the power of the Gospel to the next generations of their family.
A proven disciple and disciple-maker, Kris Baines understands that wisdom comes from applied obedience, and that’s where he learned not to be afraid of manhood. New Zealand men need to be spending some time with Kris Baines.

“I have known Kris Baines for over ten years and have always been deeply impacted by his love for God, His word and His people. I am confident that Kris would be a blessing to any group he ministered to, and would happily endorse his life and ministry”
– Rev Aaron Ironside. M.A., Harvest Christian Church, Announcer – Radio Rhema
“I have used Kris Baines as a communicator for more than 10 years. He has a great ability to connect with an audience, no matter their age or stage. He is a very gifted teacher of God’s Word and his heart to see people grow in their knowledge and faith in Jesus Christ is always at the centre of all he does.”
– Tim Sisarich, Executive Director, Focus on the Family NZ
Kris Baines spoke at our three Sunday services and at a Men’s Breakfast. I was impressed with his ability to present God’s Word simply, yet powerfully, and in a manner that connected with people of all ages and backgrounds; Christian and secular; youth and adults.
